WHAT ARE MASALA FRIES?

Crispy and packed with flavor, our Quick Masala-Spiced Fries are made with deep-fried potatoes coated in a carefully crafted homemade masala blend, turning them into a true culinary delight. Inspired by the vibrant food traditions of India and Pakistan. Masala fries are one of my favorite Pakistani/Indian appetizer or street foods to eat when I visit Pakistan. On the first day there, I always treat myself to a combo of Dahi Puri Chaat, a Zinger Burger, and, of course, Masala fries. This authentic Pakistan/Indian recipe makes a super tasty snack on its own, but it also goes great with other dishes like Tandoori Chicken or Mutton Chops.

ARE THESE MASALA FRIES SPICY?

Even though the title has the word masala meaning spicy. These fries are mild spicy.

WHICH MASALA TO ADD TO MASALA FRIES?

Red Chili Powder- To adjust the spice level. Garlic Powder- I personally use the one from Costco, I think it’s better quality but you can use any garlic powder. Onion Powder- I personally use the one from Whole Foods but you can use any onion powder. Amchur Powder- This seasoning add that tangy kick which every masala fries needs. Black Pepper- Just to give that sudden subtle warm spice kick. Oregano- I know this ingredient seemed off especially when making a traditional Pakistani recipe but trust me. Chaat Masala Powder- I used my Homemade Chaat Masala but you can use store-bought one.

INGREDIENTS

Potatoes- It’s better to use golden potatoes for this recipe. Olive oil- any neutral frying oil would work. Powdered spices- This will take care of tangy-ness, spice level, and warmth in your masala fries.

HOW TO MAKE MASALA FRIES?

HOW TO MAKE FRIES CRISY?

To get perfectly crispy fries, start by cutting the potatoes into long strips like classic fries. Spread them out on a layer of paper towels, then gently pat them with another paper towel to remove excess moisture. Take off the top paper towel and let the fries air-dry, uncovered, for about 15 minutes. This method ensures the fries achieve an ideal crispy texture for a delicious eating experience.

WHAT TO PAIR WITH MASALA FRIES?

Pair the Masala Fries with some delicious Green Chutney. Hey Friend, You’ve made it this far, so now we’re basically best friends! If you make this recipe, I’d love for you to give it a quick review & star rating ★ below. Make sure you follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
